My friend Pierce and his business partner, Joe, hosted a party at their warehouse on May 21. It was timed to coincide with the implosion of the cooling tower at the Trojan Nuclear Plant north of Portland.
After partying all night, the remaining guests boarded buses to a park in Washington across the Columbia River from the plant. Right on time, at 6 a.m., the cooling tower was taken down. It was the only nuclear power plant in Oregon.
